Windows Live Writer

I had a thought earlier today that being able to write a post without actually being online would be a rather good idea. Primarily because i know that for myself there is a great deal of distractions involved in being connected to the Internet.

Well a quick search for WordPress Offline composer, turned up a few results but the first one which caught my eye was a post by Paul at CapsLockAssassin.com talking about a program called Windows Live Writer. So off i go to the Microsoft website to download.

I am quite glad i did as well, as it seems so far to be a really good idea. Where i think it will provide the biggest benefit to everyone here is the ability to use it when you are not connected to the Internet yet still write in the same way that it will be displayed on your WordPress Blog.

Really at this point the only downfall that i have found in the program is that i cannot find how to schedule a post rather then to publish or just save as draft. While saving as draft is probably the easiest option for me, hopefully there is an option to publish as a scheduled post online. The one feature that i like is the while i type spell checking. When i am writing in WordPress it self i have to save the draft or such to see the incorrect spelling, however here the red lines show up straight away, this should save me a little time.

Anyway if you do a bit of writing offline, then you should really consider downloading Windows Live Writer and giving it a try.

P.S. I found the Schedule option it is at the bottom.

Yeah i think it is offline by default, but then if you want to you can connect to edit posts, or to link into other posts.
