What are the ongoing costs

While there are the up front costs of creating your portable office that you can take anywhere. You also need to think about the ongoing cost that may be associated with your office. Some costs will vary while others may be fixed ongoing.

CAFE’S – VARIES

If you choose to make your office for a day in a cafe or even for a few hours, it is more then likely going to cost you something even if that is just the price of a cup of coffee or two. While this is going to cost you less then leasing your own office, it is still an expense and often a small one that you do not really notice. If you are planning to work from cafe’s or other similar places, then look to allocate from $10-$20 a day for coffee/food.

PARKS/BEACH – FREE/VARIES

Depending on the distance to a park or beach that you choose, the costs can vary. If they are walking distance from your home, then the cost is nothing. However if you need drive or catch some sort of transport then this needs to be taken into account. For the most part though these costs should work out less then you may have previously paid to drive to work, or an office.

MOBILE PHONE/MOBILE BROADBAND – FIXED $20-$100

The cost of a phone and internet access can vary greatly depending on the actual plan and combination you decide on. The choice of plan, and eventual cost of either or both options will vary depending on your requirements. Again this is another item that you can easily write off in comparison to the costs of internet and phone for an office.

Everyone is different and while these are some of the basic costs you may like to watch out for which you may or may not be expecting, they are all worth keeping in mine, and you really do need to think outside the box, as many of the little expenses you have when you work from no fixed office are not expected.
