Why have no office

Having no office and why not have one is really only something that a person can answer for themselves. Although there are some common reasons why not having an office is an appealing option for some people.

One primary reason behind not having an office is just how much it can cost to have an office, which in some cases is not really required. For the most part having an office will usually cost you between $40,000 and $100,000 per year. Having no fixed office and working from where ever you like can save you a large portion of this maybe up to 95%.

Another reason that can often be the literal realization that you do not need an office to operate many types of businesses. If you tend to visit client’s often, or conduct a large amount of your business via phone calls and meeting’s in cafe’s then why not make the cafe your office. As such you can save the money as above, and especially if you are not in the office much anyway, then why spend the money and potentially even need to spend money for a receptionist anyway.

Both reasons above though are financial, some people may question, “So why not set-up an office at home?” Which is a good and valid point, however the idea of running a business shouldn’t mean that you spend all your time at home. Spending so much time at home working can introduce many distractions which are often quite disruptive to your work. Where as when you take yourself away from the home environment while you may not go to a office you are separating business from pleasure. So while you may choose to have the office at home every so often it still may not require dedicated space.

AT the end of the day though everyone is different, and it is not so much about why you don’t have or want an office as much as it is a personal lifestyle choice. As well as a choice in being free to operate your business from where and when you want to.
